March 16th, 2015 began as a normal day for Jami Grove. But after a routine mammogram and ultrasound, the day ended with a diagnosis of breast cancer. A lumpectomy confirmed her worst fears – breast cancer. Several months later, on her birthday, Jami received the results from a pet scan, which showed metastatic breast cancer. She underwent six months of treatment with an oncologist in her hometown.
While the care she received was good, Jami wanted a long-term plan, so she scheduled a consultation with Dr. Lawrence Mendelsohn. This has proven to be one of the best decisions she has ever made.
Jami comes to CARTI Cancer Center in Little Rock every three weeks for chemo, and her final treatment will be November 26. She has a positive prognosis and outlook ahead. She equated the care she has received at CARTI to Disney World – there is nothing she could think to do that CARTI has not already done.
A native Arkansan, Jami was born and raised in McGehee. She graduated with Honors from Southeast Arkansas College with an Associates of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology in 2007 at the age of 38 and has worked in the field of radiology for the past 11 years. She is currently employed with White River Medical Center in Cherokee Village. Recently divorced, she is the mother of two amazing young men, Peyton 21 and Drew 16.
