CARTI Adds Four New Physicians to Medical Team

Expands team of cancer experts to 42 physicians representing 11 specialties

CARTI announced today the addition of five new physicians to its team of cancer specialists – medical oncologist Andrew M. Briggler, M.D., radiation oncologist Brent Cameron, M.D., Ph.D.; diagnostic radiologist Shivang Desai, M.D.; and medical oncologist Appalanaidu Sasapu, M.D., FACP. With the addition of these new physicians, CARTI’s medical team includes 42 physicians representing 11 specialties. Each of these physicians are currently accepting new patients. 

“CARTI is in a record period of growth, which makes this the ideal time to welcome these five expert physicians to our medical team,” said Adam Head, president and chief executive officer of the statewide network of cancer care providers. “Each of these physicians bring extensive expertise in their respective fields, and we look forward to seeing the impact they will have in the lives of our patients across the state.” 

About Andrew M. Briggler, M.D., Medical Oncologist
Dr. Briggler earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. 

Dr. Briggler will treat patients at the CARTI Cancer Centers in Little Rock, 8901 CARTI Way, and in Russellville, 209 South Portland Avenue. 

About Brent Cameron, M.D., Ph.D., Radiation Oncologist
Dr. Cameron earned his medical degree and Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Dr. Cameron will treat patients at the CARTI Cancer Center in Little Rock, and at CARTI’s treatment location in Pine Bluff, located at 5001 Bobo Road. This current treatment location is open to patients and located on the construction site of the CARTI Cancer Center in Pine Bluff, which will open in January 2022. Currently, Dr. Cameron’s services in Pine Bluff include consultations for new and existing radiation oncology patients. Once the cancer center opens with a full radiation oncology department, he will provide radiation therapy treatments to patients of southeast Arkansas. 

About Shivang Desai, M.D., Diagnostic Radiologist
Dr. Desai earned his medical degree from Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, India. He completed residencies in radio-diagnosis at Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, India and diagnostic radiology at the University of Arkansa for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. He completed fellowships in neuroradiology at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. and body MRI at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. 

Dr. Desai will serve patients at the CARTI Cancer Center in Little Rock. 

About Appalanaidu Sasapu, M.D., Medical Oncologist
Dr. Sasapu earned his medical degree from Andhra Medical College in Visakhapatnam, India. He completed residencies in internal medicine and pediatrics at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas. 

Dr. Sasapu will treat patients at the CARTI Cancer Center in Little Rock and at treatment locations in Pine Bluff and Crossett, 313 N. Alabama Street, Suite 1.
